Dr Hamza Omar Mokiwa

H.O. Mokiwa holds a Doctorate and a Masters Degree in Science education from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and University of KwaZulu-Natal respectively. Dr Mokiwa is currently a senior lecturer in the department of Science and Technology Education at University of South Africa where he teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students including supervision of masters and doctoral students. He is also the chairperson of the departmental higher degree committee. He is visiting researcher at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), USA; and Josiah Kibirah University College of Tumaini University Makumira, Tanzania.

Prior to this, Dr Mokiwa taught at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa and Muslim University of Morogoro in Tanzania. He also worked as a Secondary school teacher for Physics and Mathematics in such countries as Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.

Dr Mokiwa is a member of the Southern African Association for Research in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (SAARMSTE). His current research interest is in ICT and Science instruction, STEM Education; and teacher training and development. He has conducted a number of Research Methodology, Postgraduate Research Proposal Writing and Journal Writing & Publishing Workshops. He has authored/co-authored and published a number of refereed journal articles and presented papers in international conferences.
