Anne Mastamet Mason received an MSc in Clothing Marketing and Distribution and a PhD in Clothing Management from the Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Pretoria respectively. Professor Mastamet-Mason is currently associate dean and head of the school of Creative Arts and Technologies at the Kenya Polytechnic University College. She is a researcher and a lecturer in the area of Fashion and Textile Business at the Kenya Polytechnic University College and occasionally visits Tshwane University of Technology, University of Pretoria South Africa and Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia as guest speaker. She has taught in many Universities in Kenya including: Egerton University, Maseno University and Moi University. She has previously taught at Tshwane University of Technology in the Faculty of the Arts, where she also served as interim head for one year in the department of Fashion Design and Technology.
Professor Mastamet-Mason has researched and supervised students in a range of Fashion education/marketing/entrepreneurship and product development areas. She chairs the Ready Made Garments’ Technical Committee at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and represents Kenya on Size Standards. Her research focus areas include: product development in fashion (sizing and fit issues), environmental concerns in the manufacture, consumption and disposal of textiles and clothing, and promotion of small clothing enterprises.
She is a member of the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) and South African Association of Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences (SAAFECS). Professor Mastamet-Mason has numerous scholarly and business publications and is on the editorial board of the Tshwane University of Technology’s Nexus Innovations Journal.
